I am finding difficult to create a landing page by myself because I don't have money to give to freelancer to do it for me. But I want to run my advert but I don't know if it is a good idea to run it without landing page. It keep puzzling my mind that can you successfully run Google Ads without creating one? How about replacing the page link with the social media links? Maybe by linking to social media profiles, product listings, or other web pages?

I'm curious to hear from those who have tried this approach. What alternatives to landing pages have you used? Did it work well, or did it impact your ad performance? I am looking forward to some of the recommendation you are going to tell me.

Solution
Short Answer:

  • For most Google Ads campaign types (e.g., Search, Display), you do need a landing page or final URL.
  • However, there are exceptions—notably call-only ads (sometimes called "call ads"), and Local Services Ads—where you can run ads without a traditional landing page.

Below is a quick rundown:

1. Standard Google Search & Display Ads

  • Requirement: These ads require a destination URL (final URL) that users land on after clicking the ad.
  • Why: Google's policies mandate a clear, accessible destination so that users can learn more, sign up, or convert.

Bottom line: You generally cannot leave the "Final URL" field blank...

  • Why: Google's policies mandate a clear, accessible destination so that users can learn more, sign up, or convert.

Bottom line: You generally cannot leave the "Final URL" field blank. If you try, your ad will get disapproved.

2. Call-Only (a.k.a. Call Ads)

  • What They Are: A special ad format where clicking the ad prompts a phone call rather than sending users to a webpage.
  • When Useful: If your goal is to get immediate phone calls (e.g., for emergency services, appointment scheduling).
  • No Traditional Landing Page: Instead of a final URL, you provide a business phone number.
  • Caveat: You still need to set up your business info correctly in Google Ads, and ensure compliance with Google's call-only ad policies.

3. Local Services Ads

  • What They Are: Ads that appear at the top of Google Search for local services (e.g., plumbers, locksmiths, electricians).
  • No Website Needed: Google uses your Google Business Profile and verifies your business. Leads can contact you directly via phone or a Google form.
  • Note: This is limited to certain industries and regions where Local Services Ads are available.

4. Why a Landing Page is Still Recommended

Even though call-only and Local Services Ads don't require a traditional website/landing page, having a solid landing page can greatly benefit your marketing:

  1. Extra Details: A landing page can provide more info about your product/service than what fits into an ad.
  2. Better Tracking & Attribution: You can see how many clicks convert to leads/sales, set up remarketing, etc.
  3. Credibility & Trust: Users often want to browse your site for reviews, testimonials, or FAQs before contacting you.

Final Thoughts

  • Yes, it's possible to run certain types of Google Ads (call-only, Local Services Ads) without a landing page.
  • No, you typically cannot run standard Search or Display campaigns without a valid final URL.
  • Even if you choose a format that doesn't require a website, consider the user experience and benefits of providing one.

Solution
Yes, you can run Google Ads without a landing page, but only in specific cases. For example, you can promote a YouTube video with Google Ads or run call-only ads where users click to call directly. However, if you want to run search or display campaigns for offers, products, or services, Google requires a landing page. The landing page is where visitors are sent after clicking your ad, and without it, most campaigns won't be approved. So technically yes, but only with limited ad types.

You can definitely run Google Ads without a custom landing page! Many successful campaigns send traffic directly to social media profiles, especially Facebook business pages or Instagram profiles if your audience is active there. You could also use free landing page builders like Google Sites, Mailchimp's free plan, or even Canva's website builder. These don't require coding skills and won't cost you anything. The key is making sure wherever you send people has clear contact information and matches what your ad promises. Just keep your ad copy aligned with the destination page content.

It is possible to run an advert on Google without using a landing page. When you are setting up your advert on Google you'll be requested to choose the type of ad campaign you want to run and you can go for the engagement campaign if it happens that you don't have any landing page to use. It should be known that you might not have quality leads compared to when you use landing page for your ads.
