I'm kind of confused about how to narrow down my customers. I've been running my e-commerce store for a few months and I started with a pretty broad target audience. Sometimes it feels like I'm reaching a lot of people, and other times it feels like no one is really interested.

I created ads aimed at different age groups and interests. I also tried writing product descriptions that appeal to a wide variety of shoppers. I tracked which ads got clicks but the sales don't seem to match the numbers.

I'm wondering if having too broad a target audience is actually hurting my sales. Can a broad target audience hurt your sales on e-commerce sales?
