Getting your first freelance client is hard when every client wants to see previous work before they trust you with anything. It feels like a situation where you need experience to get experience, which leaves a lot of new freelancers stuck before they even begin. But people clearly find a way through it because everyone who has clients today was once in that same position. I am curious what practical steps actually helped people build something worth showing when they were starting from scratch with no work history at all.
