It is said that there is no point in reinventing the wheels rather realigning them. This means you don't have to work hard to come up with new things rather look for what works and model it to your own advantage.

This is the reason why I keep in searching about the competitors in my niche in order to discover some of their traffic sources. I have been checking the big players in my niche to see where they are getting the traffic from.

I have been trying for several times but I am yet to see way out. I want to ask you guys that what are the ways to know the source of traffic for a website?

To find the traffic sources of a website, you can use some of the following methods:

1. Check Google Analytics: If the website uses Google Analytics, you can view some basic traffic source data in the Acquisition section. This will give you an overview of the different channels sending traffic to the site.

2. Use SimilarWeb or SEMrush: Both these tools offer insights into a website's traffic sources, including organic search, paid search, social media, and referral traffic.

3. Look at the Website's Referral Traffic: By checking the Referral section in Google Analytics, you can see which websites are linking to your competitor's site, potentially driving traffic to them.

4. Analyze Social Media Activity: Look at your competitor's social media profiles to see which platforms are generating the most engagement and traffic for them.

5. Check for Paid Search Ads: Use tools like SEMrush or Google Ads to see if your competitors are running paid search campaigns that are driving traffic to their site.

By using these methods, you can gain valuable insights into your competitor's traffic sources and use that information to improve your own website's traffic strategy.

There are different traffic sources from Google to YouTube, Facebook, Instagram and other social media platforms. However, your source of traffics can be influenced by your niche and location. Also if you desire a free or paid traffic source. You can easily get free traffics from social media platforms.

My guess is each webmaster or blogger use at least one web service to keep track & monitor web traffics. There are tones of free web traffic checkers out there, each a unique of its own. Most of them have something in common though; installation of script is required to generate traffic reports. Installing too many tends to slow the site down and cause inaccuracy in overall results.

As per my experience there isn't a sure shot way to know traffic numbers of page.

However you can get monthly traffic of a domain via a tool called as Similar Web. You put the domain in this tool and it will show you traffic data, along with other important metrics. I think that's the closest that you can get.
