Ask Why do some affiliate articles get traffic but no clicks on affiliate links?

Getting traffic from Google is a good thing in affiliate marketing, but traffic alone does not mean money. Some articles get many visitors, but people do not click the affiliate links. This may happen if the content does not match what the visitor really wants, or if the product is not shown in a clear way. So traffic and clicks are two different things. What makes people actually click affiliate links?

They're just browsing, comparing stuff, or trying to figure things out, so they read and leave. Sometimes the links are there but kinda easy to miss, especially if they're buried in long paragraphs or don't stand out. Other times the article just feels too "salesy," so people don't trust it enough to click. And if the product doesn't really match what the reader wants, they'll ignore it. On phones it's even worse. Also, a lot of people open multiple tabs and end up buying somewhere else later. So yeah, traffic doesn't always mean clicks

One common reason is that the article answers the reader's question too well without giving a reason to click anything. If someone gets all the info they need on the page, they just leave. Adding a simple reason to check the product, like showing what they'll gain from it, can help move them forward.

Traffic doesn't turn into clicks unless the reader feels like the link solves their exact problem right now. Most articles fail because they attract the wrong intent (people just browsing, not buying), or they stay too vague no clear recommendation, no real opinion, no urgency. People click when they trust you, see a specific benefit, and feel confident about what they'll get, so clear comparisons, honest pros/cons, and strong but natural calls-to-action matter a lot. Also, placement plays a role links buried or too generic get ignored, while links tied directly to a moment of decision ("this is the best option for X because…") get the most clicks.
