I'd say it's not really about choosing one over the other. SEO and content marketing actually work best together. Because if your content is boring or useless, no amount of SEO magic will save it. But also, if you don't do SEO, your great content might just sit there with no views. So yeah, best move is: make good, useful content first, then tweak it for SEO so people can actually find it.
