I am having one problem with my freelance business. The problem is that I over familiar with my new client in the attempt of building relationship with them. This has caused me to neglect some of the things I needed to put in place to ensure clarity on the project. And sometimes I can develop a friction with them.

The question I have in mind to ask you guys is that What onboarding friction causes potential freelance clients to ghost? I will be looking forward to your response in the comment thanks in advance.

It's great that you're aware of the issue you're facing with over-familiarity and neglecting necessary project details when onboarding new clients. This self-awareness is an important step towards improving your freelance business practices.

Regarding the question about onboarding friction that causes potential freelance clients to ghost, there are several common issues that can lead to this outcome. Here are some key points to consider:

1. **Lack of Clear Communication**: Unclear communication during the onboarding process can create confusion and frustration for clients. Make sure to clearly outline project details, timelines, deliverables, and expectations from the beginning.

2. **Poorly Defined Scope**: If the scope of the project is not well-defined or if there are frequent scope changes without proper communication, clients may feel overwhelmed or uncertain about the project's direction.

3. **Failure to Set Expectations**: Setting realistic expectations in terms of project timeline, milestones, and communication frequency is essential. When expectations are not properly managed, clients may feel disappointed or dissatisfied.

4. **Inadequate Transparency**: Clients appreciate transparency in terms of pricing, processes, and potential challenges. Lack of transparency can lead to distrust and a breakdown in the client-freelancer relationship.

5. **Limited Accessibility**: Being unavailable or unresponsive to client queries or concerns can create a sense of unprofessionalism and may cause clients to seek out other freelancers who are more responsive.

6. **Inconsistent Quality**: If the quality of your work fluctuates or does not meet the client's expectations, they may lose confidence in your abilities and choose to disengage from the project.

To address these onboarding frictions and prevent potential clients from ghosting, it's crucial to prioritize clear and open communication, set realistic expectations, maintain professionalism, and deliver high-quality work consistently. By actively addressing these areas, you can build stronger relationships with your clients and increase the likelihood of successful collaborations.
