Ask What landing page actions should trigger retargeting ads?

Retargeting works best when it's based on how visitors behave on your landing page. If someone visits your page and leaves without signing up or buying, that's already one strong signal. But you can go deeper. Actions like scrolling halfway through your page, clicking on certain buttons, or spending a good amount of time reading your offer are also good triggers. These actions show they had some interest, even if they didn't convert yet. You can also retarget people who filled out part of a form but didn't submit it. That means they started the process but stopped for some reason. Tracking these steps helps you build better ads for the right people. The goal is to reach people who were already thinking about your offer. It makes your ads more relevant. Have you noticed any actions on your pages that signal interest, even if there's no conversion yet?

In my view, retargeting should always be tied to deeper engagement actions. It's not enough that a user just visited the homepage. Actions like adding something to cart, checking pricing details, or even clicking on "get started" are far stronger signals. Retargeting those groups gives a higher chance of turning them into leads or buyers. You can also segment based on how much time they spent. Someone who stayed two minutes is more valuable than someone who bounced instantly. That way, you don't waste your ad budget.

Think stuff like scrolling around, clicking buttons, watching a promo video, or starting to fill out a form but bouncing. Even just hanging out on the page for a bit without taking action is a good enough reason. You're basically looking for anyone who showed some curiosity but didn't commit. Set up ads to follow them around and remind them what they're missing. Maybe they just weren't ready at that moment , hit them later when they're more likely to convert.
