I have seen projects where the client keeps adding new ideas without defining what the final result should be. A deliverable means the finished work you are expected to provide. Without it, the project can keep going without a clear end, which can waste time and energy. I think it is important to set limits early. How do you handle such projects and make sure both you and the client agree on what the final outcome should look like?
 
That's why it is always important for the freelancers to make sure that they talk about the terms and conditions before they start the task. Let your clients know the time you want to finish and all what you want to be added. Any additional information should attract new pay.
 
Decide what "done" might kinda look like, even if it's not exact. Then break it into small steps so it feels less messy and more manageable. Set mini deadlines or check-ins so you don't just keep working on it forever with no direction. As you go, you can adjust based on what you learn. Also, it helps to keep asking "is this useful enough yet?" instead of "is this perfect?" And honestly, sometimes you just have to stop when it's good enough and move on.
 
The best way to handle this is to stop treating it like an open-ended project and turn it into a clearly defined scope as early as possible. That means agreeing in writing on what the deliverable actually is, what's included, and what's not before too much work starts. If the client keeps adding ideas, treat those as separate phases or revisions, not part of the original work. It also helps to set checkpoints or milestones where both sides review progress and confirm direction. Without that structure, the project will keep expanding, so the key is setting boundaries early and tying everything back to a defined outcome.
