A/B testing is basically a way to see which version of something works better. You make two versions and show them to different people at the same time. Then you check which one gets more clicks, sign-ups, or whatever you're measuring. To do it right, keep it simple so you know what's making the difference. When you are making use of A/B, you need to make sure that you are recording. You need to study the behavior of the customers towards the either of the two versions. And when you are with either one, you need to make sure that you don't put it above the other to know what really works.
 
I think A/B testing is just a simple way of comparing two versions of something to see which one performs better. It could be two headlines, two ad images, two landing pages, or even two email subject lines. The goal is to find out what people respond to more.
