I feel a little uncertain about relying on just one supplier. I have been running my store for some time and I try to focus on products that sell the most. One of my items brings in most of the sales and I source it from a single supplier.

So far they deliver on time and the quality is good. I keep track of the stock levels and I reorder quickly whenever I need more. Still, I wonder if this puts me at risk.

Now I am questioning my setup. What are the risks of depending too heavily on a single supplier for your top-selling
product?

You could run out of stock, upset customers, and lose sales. You also get stuck paying whatever they charge since you don't have other options. Even a short hiccup on their end can throw your whole operation off. Plus, sticking with one supplier makes it harder to try new things or switch if something better comes along. Basically, putting all your eggs in one basket isn't smart

Depending heavily on a single supplier for your top-selling product poses several risks to your business. Relying on only one supplier increases your vulnerability to supply chain disruptions. If the supplier faces any issues such as production delays, quality control problems, or logistical challenges, it can lead to stock shortages and hinder your ability to meet customer demand.

If they mess up you could be stuck with nothing to sell and customers getting annoyed. And if they suddenly go out of business or change the deal, you'd be scrambling. Plus, sticking to one supplier means less room to haggle or find better options. Basically, it's like putting all your eggs in one basket. Having a few backup suppliers makes life way less stressful

Relying heavily on a single supplier for your top-selling product can indeed pose significant risks to your business. Depending on one supplier makes your business vulnerable to any disruptions that supplier may face, such as production delays, quality control issues, or logistical challenges.

Relying on a single supplier for your best-selling product is risky because any disruption like delays, quality issues, price hikes, or even the supplier going out of business directly hits your sales and reputation. You're also limited in negotiating power since you have no alternatives lined up. Even if things are smooth now, unexpected events like shipping problems, factory shutdowns, or geopolitical issues can create stockouts quickly. The safest approach is to diversify have a backup supplier or two, and keep safety stock so one hiccup doesn't shut down your top-selling product.
