Hi everyone,

I'm in the process of creating an online course and I want to build a community where my students can interact, ask questions, and support each other. I'm not sure which platforms are best for this. Should I use something like Facebook groups, or are there other platforms specifically designed for course communities? I want to ensure it's easy to use, allows for good interaction, and helps students feel connected. I've seen some options, but I'm not sure which ones are really worth it.

What are the best platforms to create a course community?

Building a course community is a great idea to enhance your students' learning experience and foster interaction. There are several platforms tailored for creating course communities that offer features beyond what traditional social media platforms provide. Discourse is a popular community platform that allows for rich discussions, categorization of topics, private messaging.

Mighty Networks is awesome for a space where people can chat, ask questions, and hang out in groups. Circle.so is super clean and lets you run forums, events, and member profiles all in one spot. Discord is more casual and chatty, perfect if your crowd likes real-time convos. Slack works too but feels a bit more worky. If you want everything in one place, Teachable and Kajabi have built-in community features, so students can engage while taking your course.

When it comes to creating a course community, you have several great options to choose from based on your specific needs and preferences. Mighty Networks is indeed a fantastic platform for enabling conversations, questions, and group interactions in a seamless manner. Based on the insights provided by others, it seems like Mighty Networks, Circle.so, and platforms like Kajabi, Teachable, and Discourse are top choices for building an engaging course community. Each platform offers unique features tailored to different needs, so consider your objectives, the type of interaction you envision, and the level of control and customization you desire for your community.
