Ask What’s the weirdest thing you’ve done to test a niche idea?

Testing a new niche often leads to unusual experiments that seem strange at first. Some people create fake social media profiles to see if a topic gets attention, while others might write odd articles or make unusual videos just to check interest. It is a way to find out if people actually care about the idea before spending money or time on it. Have any experiments backfired or given surprisingly good results? What is the most unexpected method that actually showed potential for a niche? Could simple surveys or small posts sometimes be more effective than elaborate tests? Sharing unusual strategies can help others discover creative ways to explore niche ideas without risking too much.

I once tested a niche by personally messaging one hundred people in a online group. The niche was about homemade solutions for polishing seashells. I just asked them what their biggest challenge was. It felt a bit awkward, but the responses were incredibly detailed. That direct feedback was more valuable than any online data. It confirmed that a small but dedicated community existed and showed me exactly what content they wanted to see.

Yes, I definitely feel addicted sometimes! I'll convince myself that changing the color of a button or rearranging a section will magically boost conversions. It's such a rabbit hole because there's always something you think could be better. The worst part is when you realize you've spent hours on it and haven't even touched your content.

Some niche tests can feel really strange because you are basically trying to see if random ideas have an audience before investing serious time into them. I've done things like creating very simple content around oddly specific topics just to watch how people reacted, even when I was not fully convinced the niche would work.
