Should you admit to a client that you have never done a specific task before?

For the fact that you have not worked for a client before doesn't mean that you should not take the task. You should make sure that you are taking it as a challenge. Clients may not necessarily care about your past history. They do care about what you can do. If you are good, they will still patronize you without any past history.
