Ask Should I spend more time on SEO or social media promotion?

This really depends on your goals and how soon you want to see results. SEO takes time because it's about improving your website so people can find it naturally through Google. It brings steady traffic once it starts working, but it's not instant. Social media promotion, on the other hand, can bring faster attention if your posts connect with people. For a small business, a mix of both usually works best. You can post regularly on social platforms to keep people interested while also working on basic SEO like using simple keywords and writing clear product descriptions. That way, you build both short-term and long-term results without wasting effort.
 
Think about competition in your space as well. If your niche is flooded with established websites that already rank high on Google, breaking into the top positions will be hard and slow. Social media might give you a better chance to stand out because personality and creativity matter more than domain authority.
 
Social media is different because your posts disappear from feeds quickly. You have to keep creating new content just to stay visible. That can get exhausting if you're doing everything alone. So if you are looking for something sustainable that doesn't demand daily attention, SEO is probably better.
 
Social media is also free to use, but growing an account organically takes a lot of creativity and time. If you have money to spend, you could run ads on social platforms to speed things up, or hire someone to handle your SEO. Without a budget, you will have to pick the one you're better at or more interested in learning.
 
It can be smart to focus on both, but I think the balance depends on your goal. If you want long-term traffic that keeps coming, SEO deserves more attention because content can rank and bring visitors for months or years. Social media is faster for visibility and engagement, but traffic often drops when you stop posting.
