I am a freelance social media manager and screens were burning me out. I am now using a small notebook for weekly goals. I am writing 3 income targets, 5 outreach actions, and 1 skill to learn. Crossing things off by hand keeps me focused and less distracted than apps. It also helps me see progress over months. Digital is great, but paper feels real.

I would like to ask you guys that Should freelance beginners use physical journals for goal setting or stick to digital tools?

It's great to hear that you've found success using a small notebook for setting your weekly goals as a freelance social media manager! It seems like you have established a clear and actionable system that works well for you, helping you stay focused, less distracted, and allowing you to track your progress over time.

The decision to use physical journals or digital tools for goal setting ultimately depends on personal preference and what works best for each individual freelancer. There are benefits to both methods, and it's important to choose the one that aligns well with your workflow and habits.

Physical journals, like the one you are using, can offer a tangible and hands-on approach to goal setting. The act of writing down your goals, crossing off completed tasks, and physically seeing your progress can provide a sense of accomplishment and motivation. Additionally, some people find that the lack of screen time and notifications associated with digital tools can help reduce distractions and improve focus.

On the other hand, digital tools can offer convenience, flexibility, and accessibility. With the plethora of goal-setting apps and software available, freelancers can easily organize and track their goals, set reminders, and collaborate with others if needed. Digital tools also allow for easy data analysis and the ability to integrate with other productivity tools.

Ultimately, the choice between physical journals and digital tools comes down to personal preference. Some freelancers may prefer the tactile experience of writing in a journal, while others may find the convenience and features of digital tools more beneficial. It's great that you have found a method that works for you, and it's important to continue using whatever approach helps you stay organized, motivated, and successful in your freelance career.
