Should a freelancer learn from a failed or successful freelancer?

There is a debate of where the freelancers need to learn better. Some have argued that the best place and whom to learn from is a failed freelancer. He will learn all what such a freelancer did that made him fail. Others have argued that it should be from the successful one.
