Adults have more roles to play when it comes to guilding the youth towards responsible gambling. If this is not taken care of, there is more tendencies that the youth may fall victim of irresponsible gambling. Below are the roles of the adult while protecting the youth against irresponsible gambling:

Enlightenment: it behoves the adult to educate the youth on the negative impacts of gambling. This will prepare the youth against any negative effects.

Contentment: adult should make sure they teach the youth the importance of contentment. This will not allow them to fall victim of irresponsible gambling.

What are the other roles of the adult in protecting the youth against irresponsible gambling.

Adults have a strong role to play in guiding the youth. They must lead by example by avoiding gambling or showing self-control when around young people. If adults act wisely and don't glorify gambling, the youth will see it's not a safe or smart habit. Actions speak louder than words, and young people usually copy what they see.
Adults should talk to young people about the dangers of gambling. Not just say "don't do it," but explain why it harms people's minds, money, and futures. When youth hear the truth early, they're more likely to avoid mistakes and stay focused on better things.

It is the functions of the adult to truly ensure that there is low level of gambling in the community, if they can not stop it. Gambling, has truly eroded many values. And it is the duty of the adult in preserving these values by teaching the youth the benefits of being contented and all that.

Also, adult need to rally round the youth that have fallen victims of addiction as a support.

Setting a good example is really important. Kids watch what adults do more than what they say. If parents are constantly betting on sports or buying lottery tickets, children might think gambling is normal behavior. Adults need to be mindful of their own gambling habits and avoid normalizing it around young people. Even casual comments about winning or losing money on games can influence how kids view gambling.

First, they need to set a good example by avoiding gambling themselves or keeping it under control if they do. Youth often copy what they see, so showing healthy habits is important. Adults should also talk openly about the risks of gambling, like addiction and financial loss, so young people understand the dangers. Finally, adults can help by creating activities or hobbies that keep the youth busy and focused on positive goals instead of gambling.

Adults also have the role of monitoring and guidance. Many young people are exposed to gambling content online through phones and social media, so adults should pay attention to the kind of platforms and influences surrounding them. Early guidance can prevent harmful habits from growing unnoticed.
