Ask Is video content suitable in membership website?

I'm planning a membership website soon. I'm wondering if video content is a good idea. Do members prefer watching videos, or should I stick to text and images? I want to keep people engaged, but I'm not sure if videos are worth the effort. Are they harder to manage or more expensive to host? I also don't know if they will slow down my site. I don't want to invest in videos only to find out they don't work well.
