Exit intent popups usually look for MouseOut events on the root document, and when one happens, they change the content of the page to a notice begging you to take some action, like subscribe to a newsletter.

I'm sure you're familiar.

Unfortunately, most of the time, I don't actually have intent to exit the page. I was reading it, and just moved my mouse out of the way.

Is there a plug-in or extension that would let me fool websites into thinking my mouse is always within the document?

I have tried using browser extensions to block exit-intent pop-ups and it actually works quite well. Something like uBlock Origin or Poper Blocker makes browsing smoother and less annoying. You can still visit websites normally, but you won't get those pop-ups that try to stop you from leaving.
