Ask Is registered company a requirement for membership sites?

I have been checking different ways to make money online. I'm interested in starting a membership site. The problem is that I have no idea if I need to register a company first. I want to make sure I'm doing everything the right way, especially when it comes to handling payments and legal matters. Since I'm just getting started and I'm not sure if it's necessary or if I can run it as an individual.

Can someone with experience explain if a registered company is required for a membership site?
