Ask Is it true that most freelancers undercharge because they are scared of losing the client?

It seems like a lot of freelancers know their rate is too low but keep it there anyway because they are worried that asking for more will push the client away. The fear of losing the job feels bigger than the problem of being underpaid. Over time this can become a pattern that is hard to break, especially if the clients you attract expect low prices and nothing changes. Some say the fear is reasonable when you are starting out, while others think it holds freelancers back far longer than it should. Do you think fear is really the main reason, or is something else keeping rates low?
