Ask Is it okay to freelance for a competitor of a current client without disclosing it?

This is something a lot of freelancers think about but rarely talk about openly. If a client has not asked for exclusivity and there is no agreement restricting who else you can work with, it can feel like there is nothing wrong with taking on a competitor's project. But it still raises questions about loyalty, trust, and whether it could create a conflict of interest down the line. Some freelancers are comfortable with it as long as they keep each client's information separate. Where do you personally draw the line on this?
