I am a freelance web developer working with different freelance platforms. I am tired of the vendor back and forth. Lately I am treating clients like partners instead. I am joining their sprint calls, sharing risks early, and suggesting ideas beyond the brief. I am pushing back kindly when a feature will hurt UX. I am also celebrating wins with them publicly. The result is longer contracts and referrals instead of one off gigs.
