This question comes up more than people admit. Freelancing means you are hired to deliver a result, and most clients care about quality and deadlines, not the exact process you used. But some clients would feel cheated if they knew AI was involved, even if the final work is excellent. There is no industry rule that says you must disclose it, but there is also the trust side of things to think about. Where do you draw the line between using tools smartly and hiding something the client probably deserves to know?
