Ask Is it allowed to promote products that are on backorder?

Promoting products that are on backorder is usually allowed, but it comes with some risk. Backorder means the product is out of stock and customers will have to wait before it ships. You can still earn commission if the company accepts the order and processes the payment. The problem happens when customers get tired of waiting and cancel their orders. When this happens, the affiliate commission gets canceled too. This is why it is better to tell people clearly that delivery may take time. Do you think promoting backorder products is a good idea for long term trust?

I think it is very risky for affiliate to be promoting such a product. This is because most times, when affiliate discovers that products are in backorder, there is a need to let your audience know that such a product may not be available. This will be building trusts.

Transparency is the key thing here. Customers usually don't mind waiting if they know upfront that an item isn't immediately available and have a realistic estimate of when it will ship. Promoting backordered products can even be smart, since it builds demand and lets people reserve items before they sell out again. Problems only come up when businesses hide the backorder status or make delivery times sound shorter than they really are. That can lead to frustration and loss of trust

Promoting products on backorder can work, but it's tricky for long-term trust. If customers aren't aware that shipping will take time, they may get frustrated and lose confidence in the brand and in you as a promoter. Being upfront about delays builds honesty and keeps your reputation intact. For long-term trust, it's better to focus on products that are in stock or clearly communicate any wait times to avoid unhappy customers.

It's totally fine as long as you're not acting like the item is ready to ship when it isn't. Just tell people upfront it's out of stock for now and maybe give them a rough idea of when they'll get it. The problem starts when businesses try to "hide" the delay or make it sound like shipping is instant. That just annoys customers and can even get you in trouble with advertising rules in some places. So basically, backorder promos are okay
