Do you think it's fair that Google's AI now provides direct answers or summaries at the very top of the search results page, often without users needing to click through to the original source? This practice raises concerns about whether Google is effectively "stealing" from content creators—those who invest time, effort, and resources into producing content and optimizing it through SEO just to compete for visibility in search rankings. When Google pulls snippets or summaries from these websites to generate AI-driven responses, it may reduce the incentive for users to click through to the actual source. Is this a fair use of publicly available content, or is it undercutting the creators who depend on traffic to monetize their work and sustain their platforms?

In some ways, Google AI does make it harder for content creators to get clicks. When search results include AI-generated answers or knowledge panels, users might not click through to the actual site. For a website relying on SEO traffic, this can feel like a loss. Still, the content itself is what the AI pulls from, so creating strong, authoritative content is still important. Adapting to AI-driven search is the new challenge for SEO today.

On one hand, I get why people are upset because it takes traffic away from their sites. They put in the work, and Google gives the answer away for free right at the top. But on the other hand, Google's job is to give me the best answer as fast as possible, right? If the AI summary answers a simple question instantly, I'm not going to scroll and click through a whole article.

I think it's a bit unfair. Content creators spend a lot of time and money making their work, and if Google's AI just pulls answers without driving traffic to the original source, it hurts them. Sure, it's helpful for users, but it feels like Google is taking too much credit for work they didn't create. There should be a better balance, like making the original source more visible or rewarding creators in some way.
