From my experience, the key to optimizing emails is to continuously test and monitor analytics. Things that helped me were tracking opens, clicks, conversions, and even heatmaps on landing pages. Using this data, I could tweak subject lines, personalize content, and segment lists better. Over time, these small adjustments made a noticeable difference in overall email performance.
 
One needs to be smart when tracking and Optimizing emails because you need to know what works best. Someone may track 30 email metric and no clues of the path to follow. So it best to focus and track CTR and conversion rate because the two tell the real story. Then for optimizing, don't guessing, you should A/B test one thing per send, forever. It could be subject line this first week, CTA button color next week, first sentence after that. Small 5% wins stack up fast.
And most importantly, if an email doesn't have ONE clear link to click, delete it and rewrite.
