There is a fine line between staying in touch and being too much. If you follow up too often, it can feel like you are desperate for work. But if you wait too long, the client may have already moved on to someone else. Some freelancers follow up every few months, while others do it once or twice a year. The right timing probably depends on the kind of work and the relationship you built. How often do you think is the right amount?

I will say maximum of two in a week is okay whatever you want to follow up on your old client to see if they can still come up for your service again. Avoid sending follow-up message everyday because people have some other things they are doing. When you do so they are going to see you as a spammer and they can completely ignore you
