Ask How much time do you think a small business should realistically put into digital marketing every week?

Small businesses do not always need to spend every day online, but they still need regular activity to stay visible. Posting useful content, replying to messages, checking comments, and updating products all take time if done properly. Even five to ten hours weekly can help if the business stays consistent and focused. Many owners fail because they post heavily for one week and disappear for a month afterward. Consistency usually works better than random bursts of activity. Do you think small businesses struggle more with lack of time or lack of understanding when handling digital marketing?

In my opinion, small businesses struggle more with understanding than time. Most owners are already busy, but the real issue is not knowing what actually works like which platform to focus on, what type of content brings customers, or how to measure results. Because of that confusion, they either waste time on the wrong things or stop too early. Once there's a clear simple strategy, even a few hours a week is usually enough to see steady progress.

Some businesses grow fast even with just two hours of marketing every week. It really depends on how many people already know the shop. If you are new, you might need more time to reach people. Around eight hours weekly is a safe place to start for growth.

Ten hours every week sounds like a lot for a person running a physical store. Posting pictures and replying to messages takes a lot of energy. Some people prefer doing it for one hour every morning before they open. Consistency is the only way people will remember your brand name.

Some people think they must be online all day to see results. That is not true because quality is better than quantity. If you spend four hours every weekend planning your posts, the rest of the week will be easy. It saves a lot of stress for the owner.

I think the time depends on what the business actually sells. A clothing brand might need more time for photos than a plumbing service. If you spend about seven hours weekly, you can cover basic things like ads and emails. It is a good balance for a busy person.

A small business should realistically spend at least a few hours every week on digital marketing, even if the budget is small. It doesn't always mean running ads daily. Sometimes it's replying to customers, posting updates, improving the website, or checking what content is getting attention online.
