Though time spent on social media platforms doesn't matter, we still need to do spend some time on social media. There should be engagement between the social media marketers and the visitors and guests. When you spend adequate time on social media engaging your visitors, there would be much trust, which invariably build trust and promote brands.

How much time do you think a social media marketer should spend on social media?
 
Truly, the time that are spent on social media as a digital marketer, doesn't really matter at all. The fact is that engagement really matters. Engagement will make the time really worth it. There are some that only spend few hours and then get the best from the hours. While the hours spent by digital marketers without much engagement are wasted ones.
 
As a social media marketer, I'm on the clock scrolling through Instagram, TikTok, and LinkedIn. I'm tracking trends, testing captions, and analyzing what time our audience actually cares. On a typical day, I spend 4–6 hours actively posting, engaging, and checking analytics. Another 2–3 hours go into research and creating content.

But here's the catch: it's never really "off." I'll spot a viral audio at 10 p.m. and think, "We need that tomorrow." So, sure, I block out focus hours, but social media bleeds into evenings.
 
It can be different depending on the goal, but most social media marketers don't just spend random hours scrolling. Time is usually planned. Around 1 to 3 hours a day can be enough if the work is focused on posting, replying to comments, checking performance, and testing new ideas.
