I prefer to use Google ads for my online business but I don't have enough time to monitor it. I'm thinking about hiring someone to manage my Google Ads campaigns and wondering how much I should budget for this. I need some freelancers usually charge higher for their services.

With some of the things I read, some freelancers charge a flat monthly fee, often ranging from $300 to $1,000, while agencies might take a percentage of your ad spend, typically between 10% and 20%. It seems like the key is to balance cost with expertise, ensuring the person you hire can deliver a strong return on investment.

What have you paid for Google Ads management, and was it worth it?

One thing I'd add is that communication and reporting matter as much as cost. Even if you hire someone cheaper, if they don't give clear updates or explain what's working and what isn't, it can feel like wasted money. A good manager should provide regular performance reports, suggest optimizations, and be proactive about adjusting bids or ads. Personally, I'd rather pay a bit more for someone reliable who helps my campaigns grow than save upfront and end up guessing what's happening with my ads.

From my experience, beginners often start with a small budget and pay someone $300–$600 per month just to get campaigns running and optimized slowly. More experienced professionals can charge $1,000+ per month because they bring strategy, targeting, and ongoing testing. The key is to look at the results they deliver rather than the lowest price.

I suggest it's important to look at value, not just price. I've seen agencies charge 15% of ad spend, which sounded high at first, but they increased conversions enough that the extra cost paid for itself. If you hire someone, make sure they track performance and can show clear results, otherwise even a cheap freelancer may waste your budget.

The cost to hire someone to run your Google Ads depends on their experience and the complexity of your campaigns. Freelancers may charge anywhere from $300 to $1,000+ per month for small to medium-sized campaigns. Agencies often charge a flat fee or a percentage of your ad spend, typically around 10–20%. Be prepared to pay more for experienced professionals who can deliver better results.

There are a couple payment models you can do when you charge a company.

1: A percentage of Ad budget per month. Say 10%–30%. Consider asking the company what their budget is and charge based off of that.

2: A flat fee per month with a tier increase as your ads produce results.

Depending on the company, skills and especially if your a freelancer, you could charge between $100 - $1000+ per month. Maybe more with higher revenue companies.

The reasoning is that your google ads management can very possibly raise the value of the business if these ads are successful and you'll be doing check ups on your campaigns every week with changes every month and a detailed report. As long as you keep providing value for these companies they would be happy to pay this fee considering the ideal situation is your ads pay for your fee itself in the first week making the rest of the month just pure gravy for the company. That's always a good feeling when everything is squared aware for a company.

This depends on your status, if you are starting newly, you can opt for flat fees and it shouldn't be huge but if you are into the business already and making profit. You can spend 10–20% of your budget for the time frame. Let say like 10 to 20% of $300–$800/month.
And ensure you Pay for proof, not promises. Ask to see real results before they touch your account.
