Ask How long on average do people stay signed up to membership sites?

I'm thinking about starting a membership site, yet I have no idea how long people usually stay subscribed. Do most users stick around for months, or do they leave after a few weeks? I want to keep members engaged, but I'm not sure what affects retention. Is it the content, pricing, or something else? I don't want to put in all the effort only for people to cancel quickly. I need a realistic idea before I move forward.
