Language choices convey messages that resonate with specific audiences. Advertisements often use slang or idioms familiar to local cultures. This creates a sense of connection and authenticity. The tone of language can indicate social norms and expectations. For example, humor may reflect a casual culture while formality may suggest respect. Advertisements also highlight cultural priorities such as family, success, or sustainability. By aligning with these values, brands build trust and loyalty. In summary, language in advertising serves as a mirror to the cultural beliefs and practices of society.

In places where people care a lot about doing their own thing, ads hype up personal success, freedom, and be your best self vibes. In cultures that value family or community, ads are more about togetherness, sharing, and helping each other out. Even the words, jokes, or slang they use show what people find funny, cool, or important. Some ads brag about status, health, or happiness because that's what a culture cares about. So really, the language in ads isn't random

The words and phrases used in ads are chosen to connect with people's everyday values. For example, in cultures that value independence, ads might say things like "be unique" or "do it your way." In places where family and community are very important, ads often talk about togetherness, sharing, or making loved ones happy. Advertisers also use slang, local sayings, and humor that people understand easily. This makes the ad feel more relatable and natural. Because of this, the way ads use language is not random.

I have worked in the video games industry for over a decade. During this time, I introduced several Western games to the Chinese market. This experience taught me a great deal about the cultural and behavioral differences (and similarities) between Western and Chinese users.

One thing I found fascinating is how Western users and Chinese users absorb information.
