Most freelancers learn this lesson the hard way, usually after spending days on a project only to end up in a dispute with no proof of what was agreed. A written agreement is not about distrust, it is just basic protection for both sides. Without it, everything becomes a matter of who remembers what. So how do you handle clients who see contracts as unnecessary before the work starts?

This can be a difficult situation as an independent freelance. But that is not the case when you are meeting the client on the freelance marketplace. The reason is that before you get started with any project all agreement should have been melt and then the client will show commitment by making a deposit.
