Ask How do you handle a client who suggests paying with product samples instead of an agreed fee?

This conversation usually comes up after the work is already done or close to done, which makes it even more uncomfortable. A client may genuinely believe the product has real value, but that does not mean it replaces the money you planned your month around. Saying no clearly without sounding aggressive is something many freelancers find difficult, especially with a client they want to keep. How do you handle it when a client tries to swap payment for something other than money?
