I'm feeling a bit lost right now. I've set up my online store and I know who I want to sell to, or at least I think I do. The problem is I have no idea where these people hang out online.

I've tried sharing my store link on a few social media sites and some forums that seem related. I also looked for groups that might be interested and joined a couple. I keep posting and waiting to see if anything happens.

So far, I'm not getting much engagement and I'm unsure where to focus my efforts next. How do you find where your target customers spend time online?

Start by knowing who you're trying to reach. Then peek at the platforms they're already using. Professionals? Probably on LinkedIn. Gamers or hobby nerds? Reddit. Younger crowds? TikTok or Insta. You can also spy a little on your competitors to see where they get the most action. Social listening tools help you track what people are chatting about in your niche. And honestly, the easiest move is just asking your current customers where they scroll, learn, or kill time

A practical way to find your audience is to follow their interests rather than guess platforms. Look at competitors or similar brands where are their followers active and engaging? Check niche forums, social media groups, and content hubs where people talk about the problems your product solves. You can also use polls, surveys, or analytics from your website and social profiles to see where visitors come from. Once you identify the spots with real conversations, focus your energy there instead of randomly posting everywhere.

Analyzing the behavior of your audience can be crucial in determining where to find them online. Utilizing tools like Google Analytics can provide valuable insights into the sources of your website traffic, helping you understand which platforms are driving visitors to your online store.

Finding where your customers hang out online is all about knowing who they are. Think about their age, what they like, their jobs, hobbies, that kind of stuff. Then check out social media. Younger folks? Probably TikTok or Instagram. Professionals? LinkedIn's your jam. Don't forget forums, Reddit, and niche Facebook groups. Peek at your competitors too. You can also use tools like Google Analytics or quick surveys to double-check.

When determining where your target customers spend their time online, it's essential to take a strategic approach. Understanding your audience's demographics, interests, and behaviors can guide you to the platforms they frequent. Use a combination of social media analytics, competitor research, surveys, and tools like Google Analytics to identify where your potential customers are most active. By focusing your efforts on these platforms, you can increase engagement and reach your target audience more effectively.

You can fine your potential customers on the comment section of these platforms, Reddit, TikTok, Facebook groups, and YouTube. They mostly hang out in the comment section asking questions and reading people's opinions
In addition, you shouldn't guess check out where your competitors get engagement and where keywords for your niche are discussed.

Did you try searching for relevant hashtags on social media platforms to see where your target customers are active? Hashtags can be a great way to discover communities discussing topics related to your product. Additionally, engaging with influencers in your industry can also help you reach a wider audience. Running targeted ads on platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and Google can also help you reach your target customers based on their interests and online behavior.
