Hey everyone, I've been trying to figure out how to find new and unique products to add to my store. I've been selling for a few months and mostly stuck with popular items that sell well. I checked online marketplaces and wholesale sites to find products.

I also visited a few local trade shows to see what's trending. Some products caught my eye, but I'm not sure how to tell if they will sell. It feels like a challenge to stand out when many stores sell similar things.

How do you discover new and unique products to source?

Social media like TikTok, Instagram, and Pinterest are awesome for spotting trends before they blow up. Hitting up trade shows, local markets, or even niche conventions can lead you to some hidden gems. Browsing crowdfunding sites like Kickstarter or supplier directories can show you cool stuff nobody's selling widely yet. Chatting with suppliers and other entrepreneurs often sparks ideas too. Basically, it's about paying attention, noticing what people are excited about, and actively looking for new things

That's a great approach! Leveraging social media platforms like TikTok, Instagram, and Pinterest can indeed be an excellent way to keep your finger on the pulse of emerging trends. Visiting trade shows, local markets, and crowdfunding sites like Kickstarter are also fantastic ways to discover unique products that aren't widely available yet.

The smartest way to find new and unique products is to look for problems, not just trends. Instead of copying popular items, pay attention to customer complaints in reviews, niche communities, and social media comments that's where gaps in the market show up. Trade shows and marketplaces are great for ideas, but validate demand by checking search volume, competitor saturation, and engagement on ads before committing. The goal isn't to find something no one sells, but something with demand that's not overly saturated and that can be positioned differently.

That's a great point! By focusing on solving problems rather than just following trends, you can identify unique products that cater to specific needs in the market. Validating the demand for these products through thorough research on search volume, competition levels, and customer engagement is crucial before adding them to your store.

Social media is a big one because you can quickly see what's starting to trend. I also scroll through online stores and check out what's popular or selling fast. Reading reviews helps too since people often mention what's missing or could be better. Sometimes just chatting with other sellers or being in online groups gives me fresh ideas. I also pay attention to everyday problems people complain about, because those can turn into great product ideas.

Spotting winning products usually means catching trends early and identifying real customer needs. You can watch TikTok, Instagram, and Pinterest for rising interest, then check marketplaces like Amazon or Etsy to see demand and competition. Google Trends and product research tools also help. Niche communities and forums reveal everyday problems, while trade shows and suppliers can uncover untapped products.

Search for inspiration in unexpected places like trending social media platforms, online marketplaces, and trade shows. It's important to not just follow popular items but also look for products that solve problems or cater to specific needs. By paying attention to customer feedback and complaints, you can identify gaps in the market and find unique products to source.

You can discover new and unique products to source by being very attentive on popular forums or social media platforms like Instagram, Tiktok, Facebook etc. You do this by following keenly what people complain about, then solve it. Once you realize the pain point of most people you can begin to build a product to solve the problem.
