How do I explain a "gap" in my resume when moving to freelancing?

These days, there are no even much issue about this. Freelancers can easily make this known during the interview stage. With this it will be easier for the intending human resources to know more about the freelancers and the reasons for the gap. Freelancers can as well fill the gap with relevant freelancing niche with relevant experience they have during the freelancing. What else can be done to fill the gap from the side of the freelancers?
