How can unpaid or late payment affect freelancers?

It is not about getting paid sometimes, it is about getting paid on time. That's why it is abnormal when a freelancer is getting paid late or not getting paid at all. It does affect the productivity level of the freelancers. Some may not even have confidence in themselves any longer. They do believe that they are not getting paid because they are not good. That's the extent at which they can be thinking. What other impacts do you think?
