It is easier to hide status on WhatsApp. This can be done by easily clicking on the setting button and goto privacy. From here, you can easily check out those that you want to be viewing your status and those that you don't want to be seeing your status.

There are many ways you can hide your status on Whatsapp. You can mute the users that don't want to be viewed your statuses. This can be seen on the setting button. Fortunately, the feature is not permanent. They can as well change anytime they want to do so.

You can hide your WhatsApp status very easily. Just open WhatsApp, tap the three dots, and go to Settings. From there, tap Privacy, then choose Status. You will see three options.
You can pick My contacts except… to hide your status from specific people, or Only share with… to show it to just a few contacts. Once you select the option you want, save it and you're done.

Pick the one that works best for your situation. If you want total privacy, select only share with and then do not add anyone to the list. That way your status stays completely hidden.
