A coach can decide whether to throw questions to the class, individually or collectively. By collectively, it means, the coach would not have anybody in mind. He will throw the questions open. Anybody that feel free can answer. This method has been adjudged to be the best as it eliminates instances of being partial or biased.

Aside this, it makes the coach to really know the clients to focus more on. What do you think of this?
 
Sometimes I ask the whole class a question to get everyone talking or thinking together. Other times, I call on someone individually, especially if I want to check how someone's doing or get quieter students involved. Honestly, doing both works best because it keeps things interesting and makes sure everyone gets a chance to speak. I try to make the questions feel casual, not like a test, so it's more like a chat than a quiz

The two methods are okay. Just that there should be a time to use them. When the class is passive, you may decide to be asking questions individually. But in a class that is active, asking generally may be better. With that, you aren't over concentrating on some students like that.

It all depends. If you want to know if all the students really understand what you teach, you can decide to ask generally. But if you are so particular about a particular student, asking him or focusing on him should not be a problem at all to have an enhanced coaching program

The only time I believe a coach should be concerned about asking an individual question directly is when such an individual doesn't like participating in the class activities except he's called. I believe the coach, in a way to ensure such an individual's participation, can be directing the question to him.
