I usually keep it simple and say, "I make money by promoting products online." If they seem interested, I'll explain that I earn commissions when people buy through my recommendations. But I've learned not to go too deep unless they really want to know more, it can get overwhelming for people unfamiliar with online work. I think it depends on the person and the situation. Some people are genuinely curious, while others just want a quick answer. I try to read the room and adjust accordingly.
