To be honest, digital marketers need to be careful with the color that they want to make use of while designing their logo, website and others. There are some audience that always read meaning to color. That's why it is always better to choose the audience that will know more about before we go for a particular color.
 
Color psychology can help, but I don't think you absolutely need to master it for social media marketing. Sure, colors influence mood and perception, but good content matters way more than picking the perfect shade of blue. If your message is weak or your product doesn't solve a problem, no color scheme will save you.
 
I think beginners should at least understand the basics before they start designing posts. Colors create feelings whether you plan for it or not. If everything you post is gray and dull, people might see your brand as boring. Bright, energetic colors can make your content stand out in a crowded feed.
 
You don't need a degree in psychology, just enough awareness to avoid clashing colors or choices that confuse your message. Test different combinations and see what gets better engagement from your actual audience.
 
Color psychology works differently depending on culture and personal experience. What feels calming to one group might mean something completely different to another. This makes it hard for global brands or diverse audiences. You can follow general guidelines, but don't assume everyone reacts the same way to purple or green.
