Ask Do freelancers waste too much time applying for jobs?

Looking for jobs on freelance platforms can take up more hours than the actual work itself, and many freelancers spend entire days scrolling through job posts without landing anything. I sometimes wonder if this time could be used better, maybe improving skills or building a portfolio instead. Job hunting is part of freelancing, but too much of it without results can feel draining. Do you think freelancers spend too much time applying, or is this simply part of the job?

It can feel like that to be very honest with you. You can send 20 proposals and only get 1 reply. Writing custom cover letters and checking jobs takes hours. But it's part of the game. The more targeted you are the less time you waste. Early on though it definitely feels like a full time job just applying.
