Ask Do freelance platforms allow you to add a portfolio piece that was done for free?

Building a good profile is the only way to get high paying jobs on these websites. When you are new, you might not have any paid work to show to your potential clients. I think using projects you did for fun or for friends could help prove that you know what you are doing. However, I am not sure if the rules allow you to display work that did not come from a real contract. Can you upload these samples without getting into any trouble?
