Though there are many advantages of using influencers for social media marketing, there are as many disadvantages as there are advantages. Some of these are the disadvantages of using influencers for social media marketing:

It is very expensive. Some celebrities, especially the A list, charge much from their clients. This has really afeefred the purse of these companies.

Celebrities fame is always ephemeral. The fact that one celebrity is reigning now doesn't mean that he will be reigning for life.

The stain on the celebrities may be a stain on the company.
 
Making use of social media influencers with huge followers is one of the great ways of promoting your online businesses or products and services. But some of them are scammers due to the experience I had with one of them. Because there is no escrow I made the payment for an ads in one of his videos and it was unable to do the job for me. I have no one to call to help out. Some of them don't even push the promotion as you like. As a result I prefer to use other medium of promoting my online business product or services rather than using influencers.
 
Not all influencers have the courage to promote and even get the users attention. Sometimes they care about the platform that users really want. They only care about the money that they want to collect. It is somehow cost-effective for the business owners to make use of social media themselves to promote their businesses.
 
To be honest, influencer marketing feels risky sometimes. You don't fully control the message, and the influencer may not understand your business well. If they promote many products, people stop believing them. I've also noticed that some audiences don't care about ads anymore, even when influencers post them. If the influencer later behaves badly online, your brand image can suffer too. That risk makes me think twice before using influencers.
 
One disadvantage is that influencers can be expensive, especially those with a large following. If their audience doesn't engage with your product or service, you might not see any return on investment. Also, some influencers may promote too many brands, making their recommendations less trustworthy.
 
First, it can get pretty expensive, especially if the influencer is well-known, which isn't great for small budgets. Also, people don't always trust sponsored posts because they can feel fake or forced. Brands also don't have full control over what gets posted, so the message might not come out exactly how they want. If an influencer gets into drama, it can also mess up the brand's image. Plus, even if a lot of people see the post, they might not actually do anything about it. And it's kinda hard to tell if the campaign really worked or not.
 
You can be at a disadvantage if you use a social media influencer who is not expert in promoting products or services in your niche because you may not get the desired results after paying a huge amount for the service. So the best is to grow gradually if possible.
