Can you ever "sell" a freelance business?

I learnt there are some people that always sell their freelancing account. Most times, they do because they want to exit the freelancing service. This may be illegal as it is not allowed. Some may do so if they see their freelancing as a business. They may sell their staff and any other things that make them freelancers. But if you are just alone, you don't need to sell your business. Because you are still the business.

I have been taking him about this idea for a very long time. I assume that it should be easy for someone to sell off is successful freelance business. I'm thinking of this idea so that I'll be able to fund my vacation on a 6 months trip before I come back to build another one.
