Low competition keywords are often recommended in affiliate marketing because they are easier to rank for. But sometimes even when a keyword is very easy, the page still does not get traffic or sales. This may happen if people are not really searching that keyword often, or if the keyword is not about buying something. So low competition does not always mean success. What else should be checked before choosing a low competition keyword?
 
Just because no one's competing doesn't mean people are actually searching for it. You might rank #1 and still get barely any clicks. Sometimes the keyword just doesn't have buying intent, so even if people land on your page, they won't convert. Plus, if your content isn't helpful or doesn't match what they're looking for, they'll bounce fast. And if the product you're promoting isn't that great or doesn't fit the audience, that's another problem.
 
Low competition alone isn't enough. Before targeting a keyword, you should check its search intent: are people actually looking to buy, solve a problem, or just gather information? Also consider search volume, relevance to your niche, and the quality of content already ranking. Even a low-competition keyword won't convert if it doesn't match what your audience wants or if it brings visitors who aren't ready to take action. Balancing intent, relevance, and potential traffic is key.
