In actual sense, where the instructors sort students is not the really concern of the platform. Instructors are free to use different means, allowed by the platform, to drive traffic to their courses. Using personal website is not really a bad thing in as much as the website align with the doctrine of the platform.

Do you have a personal website that you wish to draw students? Does your website align with the rules and regulations of the platform?

Just throw some easy-to-see links or buttons on your site so they know where to go. You can also drop little blog posts, share cool success stories, or show sneak peeks of what's inside the courses to get them curious. Social media or email blasts pointing back to your site work too. Keep it super friendly and casual and let them know how the courses can actually help them out. The key is making it simple for them to click through
